About Us

What is Japan Festival?

In 2012, the first Japan Festival Boston was hosted, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of cherry blossom trees from Tokyo to Washington D.C. The Japan Festival Boston gives us a chance to share our culture with the Greater Boston area, and we have been expanding this festival each year (about 70,000 people in the past few years). The festival is completely organized by volunteers (more than 400 volunteers in 2019) and is supported by many sponsors and contributors from the community.

Mission Statement

To show our appreciation and gratitude to Boston

We appreciate Boston for giving us our homes, our unparalleled education, thriving businesses and many other opportunities.

To bring together the community as one

We hope to develop a friendship with other communities within Boston but also throughout the U.S.

To ensure that Japan Festival Boston continues for the next 100 years and beyond

We would like to introduce authentic Japanese culture and to pass on our traditions to the next generation.

We are looking for more supporters to make this festival even greater whether as a volunteer, a sponsor or to just give us recommendations for the event. Don’t hesitate to contact us. Together we can create an engaging, entertaining, and educational Japan Festival Boston!
